Annnnnnd we're back!

Randy and I had an amazing time in Hawaii! You can read all about it here:
http://strengthoftheocean.blogspot.com/
I've been pretty blog-silent lately as I've been cranking out all of my holiday orders this week but I promise to post more soon.
Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season! Here's a few quick images from a recent downtown family session.

Ahhhhhhh!

Oh yes, I'm exploding with excitement! Randy and I are leaving this week for Hawaii, so we will be unavailable until we're back in the office on November 16th. All phone calls and emails will be returned after that time.

After years of talking about it, I finally started a vacation blog (CLICK HERE). Writing about our travel days makes my heart happy but I hate cluttering up this blog...so now I have a place for my babble. =)

Nashville TN Wedding Photographer

Elizabeth and Jason opted for a "day after" session because of the rain and lack of time for portraits when they got married. I recommend these sessions to clients because there is so much rushing and stress that goes into the wedding day. It's so much fun to get dressed up again and the vibe of these sessions are completely relaxed.

I love fall leaves on the water!

Nashville, TN Maternity Photography

Christi is a rock star. I kid you not, this woman is past 30 weeks and still shimmied up on an air conditioning vent for the shot I wanted. Then again, I shouldn't be surprised. I met Christi at Zumba class, where she was literally moonwalking across the floor!
One image will be used as the header of my new site, under the maternity section. Votes?

You'd think shooting a session around noon would be a VERY bad idea but I adore hunting for great light. The entire session was shot sans flash, strobe, video light...nada. Just the "natty light" that I love so much!

What a long strange trip it's been

Without going into too much long-winded detail....what a crazy fall season it's been! I've had sessions or weddings every weekend so I need to catch up on blogging. Here's a few images from a recent wedding that I shot with Gregory Byerline. I love, love, love this couple.

Will had his amazing vintage camera there to play with at his own wedding. We adored it!

Tennessee Wedding Photography - Studio 5

I fell in love with Casey and Diane right away. Scratch that, our entire studio fell in love with them. These two are so genuine and rarely spend a minute without laughter. And Diane wins the award for the most laid back bride....ever. Which, of course, make me love these two even more. Enough gushing, here's some teaser images from their big day!

Christmas Deadline

Just a reminder that the deadline to have sessions back by the holidays is November 15th this year. The only remaining available dates for sessions before that deadline are:
October 21st, 22nd and 29th
November 2nd & 3rd
If I have already spoken to you about an October session, your spot is reserved. This month is looking to be a bit crazy but I promise to pop back in occasionally for wedding and session blog posts!

Fascination

Yesterday I was chatting with a friend about Top Chef (bear with me here) and how amazed I was at their ability to make something out of nothing. I'm constantly in awe of that show, their creativity and how they "get" cultivating art out of food...which is something pretty much everyone knows I struggle with. My friend mentioned that they understand the art of cooking like I do photography...to be able to create something fascinating even when conditions aren't perfect. Funny but I never stopped to think of it like that. My husband shared this with me this morning and, again, I was fascinated by the creation of art and in this case...music. We watched it together breathing "Wow" over and over again. It moved me. Hope you enjoy it!

Wedding on The Farm - Nashville, TN

I'd love to say that Elizabeth and Jason had a "perfect" wedding but realistically it was QUITE the day! Multiple people (including me) got stuck in the mud and had to be towed out, the garden ceremony was rained out and everyone had to retreat to the barn (and a gorgeous barn it was at The Farm @ Kingston Springs), a groomsman passed out during the ceremony and a transformer blew in Kingston Springs leaving everyone in the dark for quite a while. But you know the amazing thing about this couple? When I left at the end of the night they were still laughing/dancing/singing with their friends and family...celebrating their union regardless of the wedding glitches. It made my heart happy.

This was my favorite send-off that I've EVER seen at a wedding. The couple and guests lit sky lanterns which twinkled like stars when they lifted off. GORGEOUS!

Much love to you two for your future...hope you enjoyed Hawaii!
I also CANNOT say enough wonderful things about Courtney and her team from A Magical Affair. They were soaked from running chairs in from the rain, they lit candle after candle when the power went out and scrambled to set up the generators...and those are just a *few* things that kept them busy. Courtney, you and your team are rock stars.
